ICEF is renowned for organising large-scale global networking events that bring together educators, agents, and service providers from the international education industry. These events are high-touch, information-rich experiences where participants need easy access to schedules, venue maps, session details, speaker bios, and networking opportunities. Traditionally, much of this information was distributed through printed guides, websites, or email updates, which often led to fragmented communication and reduced participant engagement.
As event scale and complexity grew, so did the need for a more integrated and digital-first approach. Attendees were increasingly expecting real-time updates, personalisation, and on-the-go access to resources directly from their mobile devices. Additionally, ICEF wanted to create a seamless way to drive engagement, gather feedback, and facilitate connections among attendees before, during, and after the event.
Recognising this shift in expectations, a strategic decision was made to develop a dedicated flutter mobile app that would centralise all event-related touchpoints. This app would serve as a single source of truth for attendees while offering backend flexibility for ICEF staff to manage data and communications efficiently. The idea was not only to enhance user experience but also to modernise how ICEF delivers and manages its event operations globally.
As the IT Project Manager, I led the end-to-end development and launch of the ICEF Event App, from initial ideation to post-launch enhancements. My role encompassed overseeing all phases including requirement gathering, design direction, technical planning, collaboration, roadmap management, and stakeholder alignment. The app officially launched in January 2025 and is currently in its second development phase.
Managed the full product lifecycle, from concept validation through to post-launch support.
Directed UX/UI design sprints and approved visual assets across multiple iterations.
Mapped out key user journeys including event schedules, attendee networking, notifications, and session feedback.
Oversaw API integration for synchronising event data, session updates, and attendee profiles.
Led sprint planning, backlog grooming, and progress reviews with developers and designers.
Maintained and adjusted the product roadmap based on evolving needs and stakeholder feedback.
Successful launch in January 2025 with high adoption across ICEF event attendees.
Improved event experience with real-time access to schedules, maps, and updates.
Enabled meaningful networking through in-app messaging and attendee profiles.
Positive feedback from both internal stakeholders and external users.
Currently managing Phase 2 enhancements focused on personalisation and data insights.
This project stands out as a true end-to-end digital product delivery. It gave me full visibility and control across technical, design, and operational dimensions. Working so closely with data flows, APIs, and user experience design sharpened my ability to align technical detail with strategic goals. It remains an ongoing success story, with Phase 2 developments continuing to evolve based on user insight and analytics.
